रिकी पोंटिंग ने BCCI को दी सलाह, राहुल द्रविड़ को बनाए कोच

टीम इंडिया के मुख्य कोच अनिल कुंबले का कार्यकाल इंग्लैंड में होने वाली चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी के बाद खत्म हो जाएगा। BCCI भी कुंबले के कार्यकाल को आगे बढ़ाना नहीं चाहती इसलिए उन्होंने नए कोच के चयन के लिए आवेदनों की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दिया है। ऐसे में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के दिग्गज पूर्व कप्तान रिकी पॉन्टिंग ने अपनी राय देते हुए कहा है कि राहुल द्रविड़ को टीम इंडिया का अगला कोच होना चाहिए।

पॉन्टिंग ने कहा कि द्रविड़ को क्रिकेट के तीनों प्रारुपों में कोचिंग देने का अनुभव भी है। इसलिए मुझे तो नहीं लगता की उनसे बेहतर भारत को कोई और कोच मिल सकता है। वो मेरे बहुत अच्छे दोस्त हैं। मैं उनके खेल का बहुत बड़ा प्रशंसक रहा हूं और मैं उनका दिल से सम्मान भी करता हूं। गौरतलब है कि BCCI ने विस्फोटक बल्लेबाज वीरेंद्र सहवाग को कोच के पद के लिए आवेदन भरने को कहा है।

पहले अभ्यास मैच में जीता भारत, डकवर्थ लुईस नियम से हुआ फैसला

चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी में भारत और न्यूकजीलैंड के बीच खेला गया अभ्यालस मैच बारिश की भेंट चढ़ गया। भारत की पारी के दौरान शुरू हुई बारिश रुकी ही नहीं जिसके बाद मैच को खत्मा करने का निर्णय लिया गया। खेल रोके जाने से पहले तक भारत ने 26 ओवर में 129/3 रन बना लिए थे। डकवर्थ लुइस नियम से भारत ने मैच 45 रनों से जीत लिया। खेल रोके जाने तक विराट 52 और धोनी 17 रन पर खेल रहे थे।

इससे पहले न्यूजीलैंड की ओर से पारी की शुरुआत धुरंधर मार्टिन गप्टिल और ल्यूक रॉन्ची ने की। कीवी टीम की उम्मीद गप्टिल को शमी ने जल्दी ही पैवेलियन लौटा दिया। गप्टिल नौ रन ही बना पाए और भुवनेश्वर कुमार को कैच दे बैठे। इसके बाद दूसरे विकेट के लिए रॉन्ची और विलियम्सन ने 43 रन जोड़े। शमी ने केन विलियम्सन (8) को 63 रन पर लौटा दिया। फिर उसी ओवर में नील ब्रूम (0) को धोनी के हाथों कैच करा दिया। न्यूजीलैंड की तरफ से ल्यूक रॉन्ची(66) को छोड़कर कोई भी बल्लेबाज टिक कर नहीं खेल पाया। न्यूजीलैंड के बल्लेबाज पूरे समय जुझते दिखाई दिए। भारत की तरफ से शमी और भुवनेश्वर कुमार ने 3-3 विकेट, रविंद्र जडेजा ने 2, आर अश्विन और उमेश यादव ने 1-1 विकेट झटके।

India have defeated New Zealand in the first warm-up match by 45 runs (DLS method). Chasing the target of 190 runs, India lost Rahane cheaply in the first 10 overs but after that Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli handled the team really well. Batting at a score of 40 runs, Dhawan played a loose shot and got out but skipper Kohli yet again scored a fifty and stayed not out.

Harmanpreet Kaur to play in Kia Super League

Indian woman cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur, who became the first Indian woman to play in the BIg Bash League, has been signed by Surrey Stars to play in the Kia Super League T20 cricket tournament hosted by England and Wales Cricket Board. BCCI confirmed the news by tweeting- "NEWS ALERT: #TeamIndia all-rounder @ImHarmanpreet to represent Surrey Stars in ECB's Super League."

Kia Super League will start from 10 August and will feature 6 players. Harmanpreet made an impressive debut. BCCI had recently nominated her for Arjun Award as well. The Indian women's T20 captain scored 296 runs in 12 innings at an impressive average of 59.20. She also claimed six wickets and was adjudged Sydney Thunder's WBBL Player of the Tournament.

Farewell for Lahm and Alonso as Bayern Munich crush Freiburg

When Xabi Alonso and Phillip Lahm came out to play against Freiburg in Bayern Munich's last Bundesliga clash, the world knew that they were witnessing these two stars play for one last time. The two stars, who have 39 trophies between them, were presented with flowers and mosaics before the Bavarian club demolished Freiburg 4-1 in their last match of the season.

Arjen Robben opened the scoring in the 4th minute. Arturo Vidal doubled the score in 73rd minute but Nills Petersen pulled one back for Freiburg. Ribbery and Joshua Kimmich scored in the first and fourth minute of injury time to seal the game for German Champions. Lahm was presented with a personalised golf kit before the match. They received an emotional send-offs from the fans and the team.

Italian Open: Svitolina to face Halep in the final

Eighth-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukrain reached the finals of Italian Open after her opponent Garbiñe Muguruza retired from the semifinal clash due to injury. The French Open champions was trailing 1-4 when an injury forced her to leave the match. She will face third- seed Simona Halep of Romania, who reached her 1st Italian Open final after defeating Kiki Bertens.

Halep had won the Madrid Open last week. Svitolina will get a much-needed rest as she had to sweat it out for three sets to beat Venus in the quarterfinals and within 24 hours took back to the court. The final of the the tournament will be played on Sunday. Men's second finalist is yet to be decided as Djokovic's quarterfinal match, which he eventually won, was delayed due to rain.
