In an open letter to his fans, he reveals how he sometimes has to plunge into a risk without being totally sure of its consequences. "Somehow, people believe I know exactly what I am doing, that I know for sure how my decisions are going to turn out. And given the recent successes on the pitch, that belief is now probably sweeping the nation. But here’s the truth: I don’t," Kohli wrote in the letter.
"But what I do know is, no matter how bold or scary it may seem; when the time comes, I have got to make that move. I have to set my fears aside and take the plunge," he further added. Before signing off, the Indian Test captain shared his mantra for 2017 and it reflected his sky high confidence. "So, here’s my mantra for the New Year: I will do what I have always done follow my instincts and make my own choices."
The Indian fans would be hoping for a similar year from their hero in 2017 and anything close would mean that Kohli would be rewriting history books once again. If he remains his'bold' self and backs his instincts, a continuation of this success story shouldn't surprise many.
